Introduction to Photoshop Session I

Used by photographers, graphic designers, digital artists, and illustrators alike, Photoshop allows its users to not only edit photographs for precision and accuracy but also to use their imaginations to create sensational scenes and stunning printed graphics. In this workshop, you will be guided through a step-by-step overview of frequently used Photoshop adjustments and tools using provided digital images and photographs. You will learn the basics of photographic editing, photo retouching, digital Collage, and preparation of an image for print. Class time will be part instruction and part work time. A laptop with Photoshop software is required for the course so that you can follow along with the instructor’s lesson. You are encouraged to bring your own photographs and digital art on which to work and work with the provided demonstration images.
Emily J. Gómez earned her BA in Fine Arts with a concentration in photography from Loyola University Chicago in 1998 and her MFA with Distinction from the University of Georgia in 2006. She is a full-time artist and co-owner of East Twin Studios, LLC in Lewiston, Michigan, with her husband, Ernesto, offering portrait sessions, photographic restoration, retouching, Photoshop, and print services.

A laptop and Photoshop software is required. Please make sure to have Photoshop installed on your laptop before class time.
