Collage Portraits

Have you ever seen a picture of a pear and thought it looked like a nose? Or a car grill that looked like teeth? Or fried eggs that looked like eyes?
In this workshop, you will create whimsical, unique collage portraits of shapes, colors, and things you see daily in magazines, newspapers, or online. The idea is to exercise the creative muscles that we all have by going beyond the ordinary to work that exhibits greater imagination. It’s a visually fun, creative puzzle that becomes your art.
Hank Feeley is an author, painter, and sculptor whose work was awarded at the Dennos Museum’s 2022 NWMI exhibition. He graduated from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago and Harvard Business School. He has been a Visiting Artist at SAIC, an Artist in Residence at Oxbow, and taught at Roosevelt University and the Dennos Museum. Hank currently teaches at the Vero Beach Museum Of Art, the Gifford Youth Achievement Center and at GAAC. His work is held in public and private collections nationally and internationally. He is represented in Chicago by Aron Packer Projects and, in New York, by First Street Gallery.
Bring scissors and many magazines, newspapers, and downloaded images from which you will get the elements for your collage portrait. Also, bring a bag lunch and plenty of liquids.
