Beauty is perceived in nature for many reasons, and there’s much to explore as we experience it directly. In this class, we will examine nine natural patterns: symmetries, fractals, spirals, meanders, waves, foams, tessellations, cracks, and stripes. Taking a stroll through the GAAC Grove, we will discuss these patterns and discover what makes them unique.
Each student will find an example and have the opportunity to paint and create marks on paper in the classroom inspired by these natural patterns. You can choose to paint in the style of each pattern or intuitively express your own lines and images. Students will leave with nine 8” x 10” pieces that celebrate their creative process and connection to nature.
