Explore the vibrant world of acrylic painting using palette knives in this beginner-friendly class. Students will discover the unique qualities of different acrylic brands, experiment with color mixing, and learn to create a variety of shades. Eleonora will provide lots of demonstrations on different landscape painting techniques. Bring a photo of your favorite summer scene, and by the end of the class, you’ll have a completed landscape painting to take home!

Eleonora has been painting and drawing since childhood. Growing up in Bulgaria, she learned how to draw and paint like the old masters. In the USA, she was introduced to contemporary methods and theory and earned her MFA in painting and drawing. Living in Northern Michigan for over 20 years, she is drawn to the beauty and serenity of the surroundings. Eleonora’s work has been shown in the Grand Rapids Art Prize competition since 2013. She has been teaching art classes for kids and adults for 20 years at various organizations, including CMU, MMCC, Midland Center for the Arts, Crooked Tree Arts Center, Oliver Art Center, NMC Extended Education, College for Kids, and TCAPS.
Students to bring:
Canvas 11” by 14” or any other size
Paper for notes and sketches
Any size water container
Paper towel
Small and medium palette knives
Painting palette
Palette paper
Acrylic paint: white, cadmium yellow, yellow ochre, crimson red, alizarin crimson, violet, sap green, deep green permanent, burnt umber, cobalt blue, ultramarine blue, black or
any acrylic set of colors with at least white, black, yellow, red and blue
