Musicians-In-Residence: Cerus Quartet

Dates: June 8–20, 2026

Presented by the Glen Arbor Arts Center’s Manitou Music Series + Interlochen Public Radio’s Sound Garden Project

Throughout their two-week residency, the Cerus Quartet will lead immersive musical experiences across the Glen Arbor area, including:

  • Public performances
  • School and library visits
  • Open rehearsals
  • Spontaneous musical interactions

This program is part of the Sound Garden Project’s mission to “plant classical music in unexpected places” — from beaches to parks to porches.

Description

The Cerus Quartet

Emerging as one of the most compelling chamber ensembles of their generation, the Cerus Quartet showcases the dynamic and versatile sound of the saxophone quartet. Their repertoire bridges contemporary works with transcriptions of classical masterworks, creating a distinctive sound that adapts seamlessly to a wide range of performance settings. Through innovative programming and engaging visual elements, they bring new energy to both new music and timeless repertoire.

Recent honors include:

🏆 2025 Fischoff Chamber Music Competition Gold Medal
🏆 2024 MTNA National Chamber Music Competition First Prize

Cerus has premiered works by Jennifer Higdon, Karalyn Schubring, and Joey Karz, with a new commission by Ryan Lindveit underway.

Culminating Concert

The culminating concert will take place at the Glen Arbor Township Hall in downtown Glen Arbor on Friday, June 19, from 7:00 – 8:30 pm

Tickets are required. The concert is FREE and open to the public. A $25 per person donation is suggested to support the Manitou Music. Contributions of any amount are appreciated.
