Create and design vibrant, personalized postcards in this hands-on printmaking class! Explore the exciting blend of monotype backgrounds, linocut carving, and various printmaking techniques. You’ll begin by learning how to carve and print linocut designs, experimenting with textures, transfer drawing methods, and stencils. Then, the fun continues as you cut, layer, and arrange your prints into bold, striking compositions on 5×7 papers. Whether you enjoy working abstractly, realistically, or with a mix of styles, you’ll receive guidance to create strong compositions and polished craftsmanship. By the end of the class, you’ll leave with three unique 5×7 postcard-sized creations!

Instructor
After graduating from Michigan State with a BA in art education, Cindi began taking printmaking classes at Grand Valley State University and became passionate about printmaking! She furthered her education and received her MFA from Kendall School of Art and Design. Cindi was awarded a fellowship scholarship. Teaching printmaking at Kendall for seventeen years enhanced her love for teaching and printmaking. Cindi has shown her work both internationally and locally. She has been awarded numerous awards, one was from the curators of prints and drawings from the Whitney Museum of Art, and three awards from the International Competition at the Center for Contemporary Printmaking.
