This workshop immerses students in the art of watercolor painting, inspired by the stunning landscapes of Northern Michigan. Students will learn foundational techniques like washes, layering, and wet-on-wet, exploring the vibrant hues of the region’s diverse palette. They’ll develop keen observation skills, capturing the essence of Lake Michigan’s blues, the lush greens of forests, and the intricate details that define the area’s beauty. The culmination of this journey will be a series of watercolor paintings, bound into a unique, natural book.

Instructor

Karin Jones is a seasoned art educator with an MFA from Northern Michigan University. With over 18 years of experience, she inspires young minds through visual arts, especially watercolor and photography. Her teaching philosophy centers on nurturing creativity and developing artistic skills. She tailors instruction to meet individual needs, drawing on her diverse experience, including nine years as a Montessori lead teacher in an upper elementary classroom. When not teaching, she enjoys family time, often relaxing at the beach or watching the playful antics of her miniature dachshunds and yellow lab.

Class Eligibility & Age Verification*
Our classes are carefully tailored to specific age groups to ensure a safe, supportive, and developmentally appropriate experience for every child.
I, parent/guradian #1 (as indicated in this form) confirm that my child’s birthdate and age provided on this form are accurate. I understand that if a child is registered for a class outside of their age range, GAAC may need to transition them out of the class to maintain the best environment for everyone. Because our class spots are strictly limited, refunds cannot be issued in these instances. Consent & Medical Authorization*
Your child’s safety and well-being are our top priorities. We ask for this medical information and consent so our instructors can best support your child's unique needs (like allergies or asthma) and act swiftly to care for them in the rare event of an unexpected illness or injury until we can reach you.

I have indicated any special health conditions, including required medication and activity limitations, which should be known to the GAAC staff and medical personnel.
