In 2007, I was fortunate to be awarded a two-week Artist In Residence at Thoreson Farm through the Glen Arbor Arts Center’s Artist-in-Residence program. Little did I know at the time, just what would come out of that Residency and how it would directly change the course of not only my work but in many ways, my life as well.
In the years since I’ve been involved with the Arts Center in many capacities. I’ve had the privilege of teaching countless classes, serving on the Artist-in-Residence and Education committees, participating in juried shows and invitational events like the Holiday Small Works, and most recently as the Outdoor Gallery Artist for the 2024/25 season.
I think what makes the Glen Arbor Arts Center such a special place is the dedication to making art accessible to all and fostering a sense of community. The Arts Center offers a wide variety of thoughtful programming that enriches the community, including a diverse catalog of classes for all ages, innovative Gallery exhibitions, programs for mentoring teens, and the Manitou Music Festival. The Glen Arbor Arts Center is truly a bright spot for the Arts in NW Michigan.
