In this hands-on class, each student will receive a 4×6 piece of linoleum and learn the fascinating process of reduction printmaking. You’ll sketch, transfer your design to linoleum, and begin carving. You’ll be guided through simple registration techniques, ensuring your layers are aligned.

We’ll use masa paper and newsprint for proofing as you carve and print. Start by cutting away areas to remain white, then print the first color, and continue carving and layering up to 5 colors. Watch your linoleum block transform as your vibrant, multi-colored prints come to life!

Draw inspiration from the natural landscape, focusing on value and color, and consider adding a unique element to your design. By the end, you’ll leave with your own series of five prints that capture the magic of the reduction process.
