Windsor Furniture: Back Door Boot Bench

This boot bench project is a great way to get started making Windsor Furniture. You will gain skills doing layout, drilling, through joinery and seat excavation. Hand tools like travishers, in-shave, spoke shaves, and draw knives, will be provided. Adult students will choose a slab of natural edged white pine for their seat and turned legs of walnut, cherry, or ambrosia maple. All skill levels are welcome. Your project will be glued up by the end of class, leveled and ready for a coat of finish at home.
Students are encouraged to dress comfortably.
Instructor: David Abeel lives in Traverse City, Michigan, and works out of a small garage workshop and teaching Windsor chair making at folk schools and at a number of other college and community locations across the Northeast. He wants chair making to be accessible so the average person can make them in his or her garage without special or expensive tools.
Class Cost: $100 GAAC members, $115 nonmembers. Materials Fee: In addition there is a $100 materials fee (this fee is added to class tuition below). Instructor David Abeel will provide all tools and materials.
