The W’s: Watercolor’s Who, What, When, Where, and Why?

Let’s start with “What.” Imagine idyllic rolling farmlands. Sunshine. Add a barn or hay bales; how about a horse or deer? Or, let’s narrow the viewpoint: just outside the farmhouse, a person in the rising sun, tossing feed to the chickens. Two very different scenes. Two very similar processes. “When” is the most important aspect of painting with watercolor. “Where” and “Why” make up your composition on the paper. “Who” can produce these visual images into a painting? You can! Come and find out how! We will do some quick small painted sketches to warm up. With these sketches, I’ll show you how to audition the components you want to include. If you have some special photos, bring them. Class will include lots of demonstrations and individual attention. Bring Humor.
