Still Life with Flowers
Artist Hank Feeley will present a 1 1/2 day still life flower painting class employing simple but beautiful local northern Michigan flower arrangements. Using flowers as the subject, you will learn the principles of color theory and composition. You will be surprised and delighted with the paintings you produce and you will be excited to apply these new skills on your own using acrylics, watercolor, or oils. The class will include a slide show on the history of flower painting. Students are encouraged to bring a brown bag for a group lunch each day. This class will be held at Hank Feeley’s studio on Lake Street.
Hank Feeley is an author, painter, and sculptor whose second book Painting the Joy of Sleeping Bear County was published in 2016. He is a graduate The School of the Art Institute of Chicago and Harvard Business School. He has been a Visiting Artist at SAIC, an Artist in Residence at Ox-Bow, and has taught at Roosevelt University and the Dennos Museum. His work is held in public and private collections nationally and internationally. He is represented in Chicago by Aron Packer Projects and, in New York, by First Street Gallery.
