The Glen Arbor Arts Center announces auditions for its December Readers’ Theater production of the movie/radio play Lost Horizon. The date for the auditions is October 5, at 7:00 p.m. at the GAAC, 6031 South Lake Street, Glen Arbor. Dates for the rehearsals are October 28, November 4, 11, 19, 23, and December 2 at 7:00 pm. Lost Horizon, the James Hilton classic, begins in 1932 when Conway disappears along with three other passengers in an airplane that was evacuating them from the war in Baskul to Peshawar. The airplane mysteriously vanished, never to be found.
Conway, a British consul; his young deputy Mallinson; Miss Stone, a traveler; Lovett, a paleontologist; and an American financier calling himself Barnard are kidnapped in a small plane and marooned in the uncharted mountain heights of Tibet. In what seems an amazing stroke of good fortune, a passing procession finds them and brings them to the mysterious lamasery of Shangri-La.
The play requires ten actors and casting may result in multiple roles. The ten roles are divided into seven males and three females. Two of the male roles could be filled by a talented female. Directing the play will be Ron Smith, a Glen Arbor local who previously directed Casablanca and A Christmas Carol.
Scripts will be available at the GAAC or by contacting the Director, Ron Smith at email@example.com for a digital copy.
