Readers’ Theater: Radio Days

Reader's Theater Radio Days

Glen Arbor Arts Center’s Readers’ Theater Radio Days is a nostalgic look back at the golden era of radio. This production is actually two playlets, with the first being a comedy and the second a mystery. A broadcast from the NBC program ”The Fabulous Dr. Tweedy” deals with a bumbling college professor and a young child left by her father into his care. A CBS program “Inner Sanctum” provides the second offering, which was called “The Voice On The Wire.”

CAST For The Fabulous Dr. Tweedy Episode “As Benjamin Franklin Said” – Tweedy: Ron Smith; Patsy: Jean Jenkins; Tilcy: Karen Ford; Officer: Pete LaPlaca; Narrator: Kathleen McCormick; Woman: Janice Ross; Clerk: Joan Schloop; Driver: Janice Ross; Mrs. Buckingham: Mary Sutherland; Betsy: Janet Stipicevich; Potts: Jane Karel

CAST for the Inner Sanctum Episode “The Voice On The Wire” – Geraldine: Janet Stipicevich; Doctor: Brian Iler; Harvey: Pete LaPlaca; Laura: Laura Lee Dezelski

The dates for the performances are October 14-15, at 7:30 p.m. at the Glen Lake Community Reformed Church, 4902 W. MacFarlane Rd. Directing the play will be Ron Smith, a Glen Arbor local who previously directed Casablanca, A Christmas Carol and Lost Horizon for GAAC Readers’ Theater. Sound and lighting will be handled by Bill Dickenson and Fred Ford. Janice Ross will be Mr. Smith’s Assistant Director. Teddy House is in charge of promotion and publicity.

As always, the seats are free, are available on a first-come, first-served basis, with reservations possible in advance at a new address, [email protected].
