Prayer Flags are a Tibetan tradition where prayers and mantras are printed on fabric flags and hung outside, allowing the wind to spread goodwill and compassion to all. We will create our personalized mixed-media versions on paper to hang outside and blow in the wind in this fun, unique workshop.
Prayer Flags are a visual voice symbolic of our hopes, dreams, concerns, prayers, wishes, and good thoughts. The thoughts touch everyone who is touched by flags blowing in the wind. Join Jessica, a mixed media artist, as she guides and assists you in making your flag while also learning new mixed media techniques.
Jessica Kovan was a 2019 Artist-in-Residence at the GAAC. She is a signature member of the International Society of Experimental Artists and the International Society of Acrylic Painters. Her overall teaching philosophy is to help students enjoy the process of making art. As an adult educator, she believes art is an individual journey. Therefore, creativity should be personal, playful, and insightful. Her goal is to help students experience the journey and find their way while remaining open to the learning process.
All supplies included. Feel free to bring your sentimental embellishments or use the items provided.
