Poetry in the Park: A Writing Workshop at Thoreson Farm
Join award-winning poet and teaching artist, Holly Wren Spaulding, for a day-long creative writing workshop in which we’ll consider the natural world and our place within it. We’ll use poetry prompts and creative exercises to tune our awareness to the National Park lands that surround our studio, and discuss examples of evocative, image-driven poetry by Ikkyu, Snyder, Clark, and others. Writers of all levels are welcome to join the conversation about how to make meaning from our experiences of wildness, but also how to respond, as writers and artists, to the ways in which our natural world is under pressure.
Holly Wren Spaulding is a writer, teacher, and editor, and received degrees in literature and creative writing from University of Michigan and Trinity College, Dublin. Her poems and articles have appeared in Michigan Quarterly Review, Witness, The Nation, and elsewhere; her most recent collection of poems is Pilgrim (Alice Greene & Co., 2014). She’s also a member of the creative writing faculty at Interlochen College of Creative Arts. She lives in western Massachusetts where she runs Poetry Forge and co-directs STORYhouse Partners with her husband, author Matt Rigney. hollywrenspaulding.com
