Plein Air Weekend: Quick Draw
Painters from across Michigan and the Midwest will converge on Glen Arbor August 6 and 7 for the Glen Arbor Arts Center’s 12th Plein Air Weekend. This year the event will be highlighted by two outdoor painting competitions, and two exhibitions of original work. This year’s theme asks artists to “Capture Village Life: Images of Empire and Glen Arbor.” The public is welcome to watch the artists in action.
The Plein Air Weekend opens August 6 with the Quick Draw. Artists will fan out around Glen Arbor and create in a designated two-hour period of time to work this year’s theme. Finished Quick Draw paintings will be on view and for sale at the Glen Arbor Town Hall from 5 – 6:30 pm. Glen Arbor artist Hank Feeley will judge the paintings. There will be cash prizes. The event is free and open to the public.
