Plein Air Basics: An Introduction to Oil Painting on Location

Learn the basics of preparing, setting up, and choosing a subject when painting outdoors. Through demonstration and one-on-one attention, David will cover composition, values, aerial perspective, and more. Beginners and more seasoned plein air painters in oils and acrylics are invited to participate.
David Westerfield earned a BA in Art with a concentration in drawing and painting from North Park College in Chicago. Other study has included the American Academy of Art in Chicago and the Sedona Art Center in Arizona. David has had a career in graphic design and illustration. His illustration credits include The Saturday Evening Post, The Covenant Companion, and many corporate and editorial publications. His painting, “Rising Moon,” was selected as the 2012 Manitou Music Festival poster image, and in 2014 his “Old Orchard, Kelderhouse Farm” painting was chosen for the Port Onieda Fair poster. www.davidwesterfield.blogspot.com.
