PLART Basics

2018 Plart Basics

Make art! Not landfills!

Are you frustrated by the amount of single-use, post-consumer plastic bags and packaging that streams through your life? Now you can turn it into art! Artist Mary O’Neill will lead students through the basics of creating PLART, plastic art. Students will learn how to fuse layers of plastic together to transform household recycled plastic into a tough, dynamic and colorful base material that can be used in collages, art journaling, framed compositions, and other fiber arts and crafts. There will be demonstrations, and students will learn the best plastic bags and packaging to use, and which to stay away from. Special note: the ironing process does not ruin your iron that is required in the supply list.
