Exploring the Rich World of Gouache

2015 Gouache

Sorry, this class is full. Please call if you would like to be added to the waiting list: 231-334-6112.

Chroma-rich best describes the versatile, water-based medium called gouache (pronounced gwahsh). This workshop will allow participants to investigate the virtues of this paint through mixing from a limited palette, experimenting with layers and painting both in the studio and outdoors. All levels of experience are welcome. Demonstrations and critiques will be included.

Joan Richmond has used gouache in her landscape images over the past seven years. After teaching painting at Northwestern Michigan College, she continues to instruct through workshops. Richmond received awards at four GAAC Plein Air Paint Outs and had a painting chosen for the 2010 Manitou Music Festival poster. A graduate of the Art Academy of Cincinnati, she also holds a MFA from the University of Notre Dame. She exhibits regionally and was accepted as a visiting artist at the American Academy in Rome (Spring 2015).
