Gallery Talk: Birds of the Sleeping Bear Dunes
The Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore is home to 280 bird species because of the many and varying habitats. Two park biologists visit the Glen Arbor Arts Center to discuss the many birding opportunities the SBDNL offers.
SBDNL biologists Vince Cavalieri and Alice Van Zoeren talk about the birds who’ve parked themselves in the Park, and some of the best ways to watch them. Cavalieri is a park wildlife biologist and a self-described “bird nerd” since the age of 7. Van Zoeren is a long-term member of the Sleeping Bear Dunes’ plover monitoring and protection program. She’ll talk about the state of the plover population and how to safely observe these iconic shorebirds.
This program is offered as part of the GAAC’s exhibition New Views: Birdlandia. There is no charge to attend.
