Flowers!

Complementing the GAAC’s “In Bloom” exhibition, exhibitor Lauren Everett Finn invites students to spend a full day immersed in colorful, vibrant and happy blooms. Using acrylics, we’ll start with two different, fast and loose under paintings that will cause some unexpected, happy accidents in our final paintings. Then we’ll sketch our flowers on top of the colorful starts, using different perspectives and changes in scale to keep things interesting. Finally, we will paint the flowers in layers on each of the paintings, creating some dynamic and exciting, floral works of art. Don’t forget your lunch — you’ll need the energy for this fun, fast moving class. To be held at the GAAC.
Lauren’s art making obsession began over 30 years ago with pen and ink drawing, then came watercolor, and finally acrylic and mixed media. The versatility of acrylic continues to delight her; it’s an experimental artist’s dream medium. She’s been teaching her painting techniques and tricks since 2007 in the metro Detroit area and in northern Michigan.
