Learn to use an intuitive approach while painting with gouache or acrylic on location to reveal the essential elements of landscape. Your personal interpretation will allow a range of expressive abstracted images to emerge. Plein air painting provides the opportunity to interpret shapes as they are described by rapidly changing light. This process includes evaluating what you think about while painting. Your thoughts will provide a personal connection to the seen and the unseen. A visit to my local studio is included for a discussion of the painting process, materials, and  setting up a workspace.

Lynn Uhlmann has received BFA and MFA degrees. She is a full time studio artist, exhibiting locally and nationally. Her paintings are inspired by favorite locations in Sleeping Bear Dunes area. Using gouache or oil, her work interprets the personalities and rhythmic movement of trees through various levels of abstraction and representation.
