Embroidered Design on Clothing

Date: November 27, December 4 and 11
Time: 10:00am-11:30am
Registration Deadline: November 19
Location: GAAC

We will draw inspiration from embroidered examples from the runway to ancient traditions and use that to draw and design our own unique embroidered designs on paper. Together, we will talk about where these designs can be placed on a garment from our closet. Finally, we will embellish the article of clothing of our choice with our design.

After studying textiles at the Rhode Island School of Design, Alyssa Brieanne started an embroidery and textile studio. All designs begin with a hand-drawn image or painting that is then translated into embroidery. Each piece is a unique color and material investigation, incorporating textures and embellishments. Her work is whimsical, colorful, and playful. She is inspired by folk art and vintage textiles.

Most materials will be provided by the Teaching Artist. Students may bring a sketchbook and preferred drawing materials. Students should select an article of clothing they would like to embellish and any DMC embroidery they would like to use other than what is provided.
