Documentary and Discussion: “The Barn Raisers“

“The Barn Raisers“:  A screening and audience discussion of the 2017 documentary film that tells the story of barns in the Midwest by examining them through the lens of architecture. What do barn settings, styles, methods and materials tell us about the people who built them, the life they lived, and the role of these vanishing country cathedrals played in the settling and building of a growing nation? Discussion following the documentary will be conducted by Stephen Stier, preservation builder, barnwright and Vice-President of Michigan Barn Preservation Network. Presented as part of the exhibition “agriCULTURE: Barnyards and Farmscapes.”
