Crazy Cats and Mixed-Up Mutts

Your furry friend indeed needs to be immortalized for posterity.

From a conceptual idea through various planning and executing of ideas the participant will create one or two finished pieces of their furry friend. Watercolor, acrylic, gouache, watercolor pencils and watercolor crayons can all be used in this workshop. We will begin very simply with easy-to-understand steps and progress as we move along. Bring a photocopy of the pet you wish to paint (8 1/2 x 11) and/or bring photos on an iPad/laptop/or phone.

Robin Avery is a graduate of the University of Cincinnati with a Master’s degree from Kent State University. She taught in the public school system in Ohio and Texas. Her watercolor skills were developed through workshops with John Salminen, Polly Hammett, Catherine Anderson, Mike E. Bailey , Donna Zagotta and Carla O’connor to name a few. She has been an Elite Signature member of WAS-H, Pennsylvania WaterColor Society, Texas Watercolor Society and Watercolor USA Honor Society. She has had her paintings in the publication of Splash 10 and Splash 15.She has taught many workshops throughout Texas and is a current teacher at the Watercolor Art Society of Houston. Your watercolor/acrylic/pencil supplies – GAAC has some basic watercolor sets you may also use.

iPhone, iPad and/or black and white photocopy of the pets you wish to paint.

Minimum Enrollment: Glen Arbor Arts Center reserves the right to cancel any class or multi-day, sequential-day workshop that does not meet its minimum student enrollment prior to the first class session. If a class is cancelled by GAAC for lack of enrollment, GAAC will offer a full refund to the student in the manner in which tuition was paid (Cash payments will be refunded by check). Please be aware that GAAC is not responsible for losses incurred due to housing, travel or other arrangements.

Requests for cancellation by the student at least fourteen (14) days prior to the first day of the workshop will be honored (minus a $20 processing fee). NO REFUNDS will be given for a student cancellation made less than fourteen (14) days prior to the first day of the workshop.

COVID-RELATED UPDATES TO 2021 PROGRAMS AS OF August 25, 2021

To ensure the safety of our students and staff, we have implemented new procedures for our 2021 programs, to mitigate the spread of COVID and still allow participants to have a wonderful time creating art.

  • Class sizes will be limited to 12 persons or less for outdoor programs and 8 or less for indoor programs.
  • All students must wear face coverings inside the center when social distancing isn’t possible.
  • Students and staff will wash and sanitize hands frequently throughout the day.
  • Common areas and touched surfaces will be sanitized regularly.

To keep pace with the evolving conditions related to the pandemic, any new policies or procedures for classes will be communicated by September 15, 2021.
