Capturing the American Spirit: 300 years of American Art

Join Linda Young for a lively overview of our country’s artistic heritage. The three-part series will trace the history of American art from from early Colonial times to the 21st century. A course syllabus will be provided. This class is limited to 15 participants.
Instructor Bio: Prior to moving to Glen Arbor, Linda Young was Director of Museum Education at the Kalamazoo Institute of Arts. She has lectured extensively on American art at various Midwest museums and provided educational sessions for docents both Kalamazoo and most recently, the Dennos Museum in Traverse City. Understanding art in context has been her special interest and this course will highlight both well-known and little known American artists and their work, placed in the social, political, and cultural settings of their time.
