The Clay Cubs camp will immerse campers in various clay hand-building techniques while discovering how exciting it can be to create in a real ceramic studio. It’s the perfect fit for the young artist who likes to get messy and wants to investigate the ceramic medium in depth. All projects are kiln-fired, painted, and ready to take home at the end of the week.

Format: In person, outdoors and in the barn at Thoreson Farm with access to bathrooms.

$110 GAAC members (early bird rate is $95)
$125 nonmembers (early bird rate is $105)

A child health form is required.

Nancy Miller is a graduate of Eastern Michigan University where she earned a Bachelor of Art Education. She has taught art to children in summer programs at NMC and GAAC. She helped to develop GAAC’s pottery program at Thoreson Farm. Nancy continues to explore her own creative interests through ceramics and watercolor painting.

Photo Consent
I, parent/guradian #1 (as indicated in this form), give the Glen Arbor Arts Center permission to use my child’s photograph publicly to promote its programming. This includes printed publications, online publications, presentations, websites and social media. I also understand that no royalty, fee or other compensation shall become payable by reason of use.
General Consent*
I, parent/guradian #1 (as indicated in this form), give permission for my child to engage in all prescribed class activities except as noted. The information provided on this form is accurate to the best of my knowledge. I have indicated any special health conditions, including required medication and activity limitations which should be known to the GAAC staff and medical personnel. I am aware of and accept the risk inherent in the program activity. I give consent in advance for medical treatment at an appropriate medical facility and authorize the transfer of my child to any medical facility that is reasonably accessible in case of illness or injury. I hereby agree and promise that I will not hold the Glen Arbor Arts Center, its staff, or volunteers responsible for any loss, damages, or personal injuries that may occure as a result of participation.

Multi-day classes and workshops: Requests for cancellation by the student at least fourteen (14) days prior to the first day of the workshop will be honored (minus a $20 processing fee). NO REFUNDS will be given for a student cancellation made less than fourteen (14) days prior to the first day of the workshop.

Weather-Related: When Glen Lake Public schools are closed due to inclement weather, GAAC classes are cancelled. We will do our best to provide a make-up opportunity for the missed class. Refunds will not be given if the student is unable to attend the rescheduled session of class. Workshops and one-time classes will be handled on a per-class basis.

Minimum Enrollment: Glen Arbor Arts Center reserves the right to cancel any class or multi-day, sequential-day workshop that does not meet its minimum student enrollment prior to the first class session. If a class is cancelled by GAAC for lack of enrollment, GAAC will offer a full refund to the student in the manner in which tuition was paid (Cash payments will be refunded by check). Please be aware that GAAC is not responsible for losses incurred due to housing, travel or other arrangements.

COVID-RELATED UPDATES TO 2021 PROGRAMS AS OF MARCH 1, 2021

To ensure the safety of our students and staff, we have implemented new procedures for our 2021 programs, to mitigate the spread of COVID and still allow participants to have a wonderful time creating art.

Class sizes will be limited to 10 persons or less for outdoor programs and six or less for indoor programs.
All students and staff must wear face coverings inside the center and outside when social distancing isn’t possible.
Students and staff will wash and sanitize hands frequently throughout the day.
Common areas and touched surfaces will be sanitized regularly.

To keep pace with the evolving conditions related to the pandemic, any new policies or procedures for summer camps will be communicated to parents by June 15, 2021.
