Anatomy for the Artist

Dates and Time: April 19, 26, and May 3, 10 @ 1-2pm
Registration Deadline: April 16 @ 12pm
Format: Virtual – online via Zoom
Unravel the complexity of the human body and capture it in your creative practice. Constructive anatomy is a powerful toolset to have as a painter, illustrator, sculptor, or creative practice. If you are interested in drawing and painting people from life or photos but are frustrated they don’t turn out how you’d like, taking a more in-depth look into anatomical structures will significantly enhance your work.
In this class, we will peer inside the human frame and explore the way artists utilize and understand anatomy. This class will explore anatomical structures such as bones and muscles to provide a framework for more realistic drawings. By delving into proportion and anatomical structures, we will set up a method of understanding the human body that can grow with you as an artist. This class is best suited for students with some drawing experience.
Dylan Evans Weiler holds a BFA from Northern Michigan University and earned his Master of Fine Arts from Laguna College of Art and Design. His primary focus during his studies was painting. His practice includes a diverse set of media, including printmaking, the historical photographic process, sound, and installation. He brings together traditional and new media to create a more engaging experience for the audience.
